A twist on the popular New York fashion Kate Spade is Singapore’s own Cake Spade – a small quaint outlet, seating no more than 12 customers.

Oreo Cookie Brownie

Oreo Cookie Brownie

The Oreo Cookie Brownie ($3.20) was recommended by the owner when we requested for something chocolaty rich. The brownie was of a slightly non-uniformed mixture; some portions were dense chocolate fudge, while others were crumbly bits. Overall, the brownie was decently rich and dense, though we felt that the oreo cookies seemed superfluous. We couldn’t really taste the presence of oreo cookies as the taste of the chocolate seemed to overpower them.

Chocolate Blackout Cake

Chocolate Blackout Cake

Contrary to the owner’s recommendation, we felt that the Chocolate Blackout Cake ($5.90) was the more chocolaty one which stroke a chord with our taste buds! Sharing the same name as the Blackout Cake from PS cafe, we couldn’t help but make a comparison. Cake Spade’s Chocolate Blackout Cake was equally decadent but less sinful as it came in a regular size. The alternating layers of chocolate fudge was not as thick, hard and sweet as PS Cafe’s, and coupled with the moist chocolate sponge, the combination was very easy on the palate and left us wanting for more. In fact, the moistness felt something signature of Awfully Chocolate cakes. This place is definitely worth a second visit as there are a few enticing selections such as the nutella chocolate tart, molten chocolate cake and cheesecakes to be explored.
