Our 2nd visit to Wimbly Lu saw us trying 4 of its desserts and 2 of the ice creams. Despite located amidst private houses and away from the city, Wimbly Lu attracts a constant stream of diners.

S'mores Pie

S’mores Pie

The S’mores Pie ($6) consisted of a thick layer of chocolate fudge, on a bed of Graham cracker crust, finished with whipped cream and toasted marshmallows. The chocolate fudge was thick and dense, but it left a very lingering bitter after taste. The Graham crackers were pretty soft, not as crunchy and aromatic as we liked them to be. The marshmallows were slightly charred, with a mild burnt fragrance. Together with the whipped cream, the bitterness was slightly reduced, but the bitterness of the S’mores Pie remained prominent.

Double Chocolate Cheesecake

Double Chocolate Cheesecake

The Double Chocolate Cheesecake ($6) was sticky and rich in cheese, but on the dry side. Same goes for the chocolate crust which was too dry and crumbly.

Brownie

Brownie

The Brownie ($4) looked rich and dense, and indeed the taste did not disappoint. The top crust was harder and crunchier than the bottom parts. The Brownie was chocolately, but not as bitter as the S’mores Pie. We enjoyed the richness and chewiness. Definitely one of the better brownies we have tried.

Tiramisu

Tiramisu

The Tiramisu ($6) was also a commendable dessert! The mascarpone cheese was smooth and silky, combined together with the moist ladyfingers and rich alcoholic flavour. Simply finger licking good!

Chocolate Truffle and Rum & Raisin Ice Cream

Chocolate Truffle and Rum & Raisin Ice Cream

The Chocolate Truffle ($3) ice cream was strong in chocolate, chewy and rich. One flaw was the slightly sandy and powdery texture. The Rum and Raisin ($3), on the other hand, was sadly lacking in the alcoholic rum taste. Texture wise, it was also rather icy.
