Marks & Spencer Bakery

with 2 comments

The newly opened Marks & Spencer at Wheelock Place has not only expanded in size, but for the first time in Singapore, a bakery was also included within the outlet. A definitely smart move on the Robinsons Group’s part as there has indeed been an increasing local interest in artisan breads and pastries.

Caramel Tart

Caramel Tart

Caramel Tart ($3.30) – A petite tart topped with a generous amount of nuts. The nuts were fresh and crunchy, adding additional texture to the softer tart centre. The tart centre consisted of 2 layers. The bottom layer was a nutella like chocolate fudge, while the top layer had a softer consistency, was more custard like and sweeter. The crust was on the softer side, with a mild taste of butter. Overall, though the Caramel Tart wasn’t the best we’ve tried, it was still pretty pleasing sweet treat for the afternoon.

Granola Square

Granola Square

Granola Square ($1.50) – The Granola Square could be easily thought of as a muesli bar. It was crunchy, chewy, oaty and chock full of nuts and raisins. There wasn’t anything extraordinary about it, but its simple and healthy taste and texture easily won us over.

  1. My own experience when visiting the newly opened branch at Wheellock is that the queues to pay are too long
I took a basket of goodies but when I saw that it was going to be at least 40 mins before I am served I put everything back and left without buying anything.
It was on Saturday afternoon and only one cashier was on duty.
