Chocolate Combo Set

Chocolate Combo Set

Being chocolate lovers, we were drawn to the Chocolate Combo Set offered by Hippopotamus Restaurant Grill. Sadly, we felt extremely shortchanged by them. First of all, we were surprised to see a creme brulee in the combo set. As per menu, the Chocolate Combo Set consists of scoop of Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie, crepe topped with chocolate sauce, slice of crunchy cake, mousse and brownie. There was no indication of a creme brulee. Furthermore, the creme brulee isn’t a chocolate item, why is it included in the Chocolate Combo Set? Secondly, even if there was a change in item, they should have at least informed the customer, instead of leaving us puzzled and confused. We also found that what we were served was too different from what was on the menu.

Discrepancies aside, we found the Chocolate Combo Set to be rather mediocre and below average. The creme brulee had a curd like texture, with a strong vanilla taste. However, the caramelized brown sugar was too burnt, such that it exuded a strong bitter taste, a very big turn off. The brownie was like a chocolate sponge – dry, bland and reeked of mediocrity. The so-called crunchy cake was not crunchy at all and was almost tasteless. The mousse was marginally acceptable. The best item in the set turned out to be the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

A wrong choice to order this dessert.
