Cuppa Warm Lava Cake

Cuppa Warm Lava Cake

We headed over to Chocolate Origin, wondering if they offer slices of their dark chocolate cake. Sadly, Chocolate Origin only sells whole cakes, the smallest being 6 inches. We were however, given a small piece to try. For that small mouthful, the Dark Chocolate Cake was pretty dense, rich, moist and sticky. It was a tad too bitter though.

Since we couldn’t get the signature cakes, we made do with the Cuppa Warm Lava Cake. It was essentially a molten chocolate cake sitting atop a chunk of vanilla ice cream – a collision of hot and cold. The texture of the warm lava cake was grasped pretty well. The crust was soft, encompassing the molten and fluid chocolate. It wasn’t as bitter as the Dark Chocolate Cake. However, the vanilla ice cream was a big disappointment. The ice cream reeked of mediocrity and substandard quality, almost like some cheap vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was also too hard and frozen and did not blend well with the warm chocolate cake. Rather than being a fusion of hot and cold, the Cuppa Warm Lava Cake was more like a forced awkward combination of soft chocolate with hard ice cream.
