Confiserie Bachmann's Grand Cru

This premium limited edition of Confiserie Bachmann’s Grand Cru chocolates, with cocoa beans coming from a single plantation, consisted of four different flavours:

Grand Cru Truffle Lait: Criolait couverture with 38% cocoa content.
Praline Character: The full-bodied milk taste is supported by a delicate touch of honey and a very subtle aftertaste.

Grand Cru Truffle Noir: Dark couverture with 65% cocoa content.
Praline Character: The distinct and charming taste unfolds with a subtle acidity.

Grand Cru Caramel: Dark couverture with 65% cocoa content.
Praline character: Balanced combination of intense cocoa with acidity and fresh fruit caramel. A refined taste.

Grand Cru Framboise: Couverture with 49% cocoa content.
Praline character: Intense cocoa flavor supported by fruity raspberry.

We loved the smooth consistency of both truffles which melted in the mouth almost instantly. In particular, we adored the Truffle Noir, where the richness and creaminess of the truffle was well balanced with a subtle chocolate bitterness exuded first from the powdery exterior followed by the inner content. The Grand Cru Caramel and Framboise were hard shell pralines with viscous and slightly softer centre. Contrary to our expectations, the Grand Cru Caramel did not consist of an entire sweet caramel filled centre, but one which was made up of chocolate cream with a hint of caramel sweetness. These did not taste cloyingly sweet unlike other caramel chocolates, likely due to the higher cocoa content used. On the other hand, the Grand Cru Frambiose had fiilings which left a fruity aftertaste.
