Sticky Date Pudding

We had previously given raving reviews for Double Bay’s Molten Warm Chocolate Lava Cake. But their Sticky Date Pudding was a major disappointment. On first glance, the pudding looked simply dismal. It had a steamed Nonya kueh kind of appeal with toffee sauce drizzled over it. And it definitely tasted as bad as it looked.  The pudding had the typical Chinese New Year’s Cake aka 年糕 taste and a texture of the Chinese 发糕. The similar taste and texture was probably due to the use of brown sugar and flour which were also used in the Chinese/Nonya keuh. In our opinion, Double Bay’s Sticky Date Pudding has got to be one of the worst sticky date pudding we have ever tried and certainly the most expensive 发糕 too!
