1-Caramel Dessert Boutique

1-Caramel at The Luxe (near The Cathay) has ceased operations. Besides its Espresso Bar outlet at OUB Centre, you can also get 1-Caramel cakes from its dessert boutique at Rochester Park. We dropped by the 1-Caramel Dessert Boutique on a weekday afternoon. The place was pretty deserted and the cafe adopted an open-kitchen concept. The cakes were placed in a see through cooler, but with no labels whatsoever, we had to bug the staff to introduce the cakes to us. The entire setting and presentation kind of gave us the impression that they weren’t ready for operations.

Malteser Cheesecake – A dense baked cheesecake with a coffee crumb base, horlicks marbling and maltesers chocolate balls topped with luscious manjari ganache. The strong coffee flavour and aroma from the base overpowered the mild cheese taste. The base itself was very soft and not crumbly. The cheesecake did not exude the sticky and dense texture that we like. In general, it wasn’t exactly one of the better cakes from 1-Caramel.

Chocolate Praline Cake 1 Caramel’s cocoa signature with varying layers of chocolate mousse and hazelnut praline feuilletine. The Chocolate Praline Cake had a typically ferrero rocher texture and taste. Nothing too out of the ordinary or fantastic about it though.

  1. wanted to visit this place since it’s opening, the interior is nice u reckon? the malteser cake looks gorgeous 🙂
