Bonheur Patisserie – it’s the little things that make you smile. With the comments from one of our blog readers, we eagerly made our way down to Bonheur Patisserie to try their highly recommended chocolate tart!

Chocolate Hazelnut Tart

As frequently mentioned, our all-time favourite chocolate tart comes from Laurent Bernard Chocolatier. Bonheur’s Chocolate Hazelnut Tart was slightly different as it incorporated hazelnuts into its tart, whereas Laurent’s version was pure chocolate. Bonheur’s version had 3 different layers. The top was a layer of luscious dark chocolate, followed by a layer of mousse and finally a crunchy biscuit-like base. There were also chunks of hazelnuts embedded within the tart. The layer of chocolate mousse was sticky and one interesting thing was that it contained bits of orange skin. Overall, the tart was pretty good, especially ideal for those looking for a touch of nuttiness and various texture within their chocolate tart. However, for real pure chocolate tarts, it still failed to usurp out all time favourite. Laurent still wins hands down!

The Chocolate Cake

Another cake which caught our attention was the The Chocolate Cake. This cake was slightly lighter than the chocolate tart. The chocolate mousse layer was on the bitter side, with the alternating crunchy layers adding some sweetness.

A commendable thing about Bonheur Patisserie is its chef. The chef was very friendly and welcoming. We could sense her sincerity in getting feedback from us. She had a nice smile on her face, and interacted well with us. Overall, we had an enjoyable time at Bonheur Patisserie.
