Summer Frost 夏日霜

We headed to Summer Frost hoping for some authentic Taiwan Snow Ice. There wasn’t exactly a wide variety of snow ice to choose from but we ended up settling for the Mango Mania and Rocky.

Rocky

Mango Mania – Milk frost topped with sweet mango cuts, drizzled with mango puree. The milk frost was rather bland, to the extent of being rather tasteless. The frost wasn’t very sticky and didn’t have the “melt in the mouth” texture. There wasn’t a sufficient amount of mango puree and mango sauce, hence towards the end, the milk frost was pretty boring and unappetizing.

Rocky – Peanut frost trickled over with caramel sauce, peanut bits and almond slices scattered on it. The peanut frost fared slightly better in the sense that it exuded a stronger taste. The caramel sauce accentuate the sweetness and with the crunchy peanuts and almonds, Rocky was slightly more appealing to us. But as usual, we would prefer if they could be much more generous in their toppings, and blow us away with the richness of the snow ice.

In all, the serving portion was quite small, there were insufficient toppings and the frost lacked a strong flavour. There wasn’t any satisfaction from the snow ice and sadly, it did not give us the same kick as those in Taiwan. The Snow Ice shops in Singapore definitely have much more to learn from their Taiwan counterparts.
