Valrhona Dark Chocolate Tart

Valrhona Dark Chocolate Tart

We had walked past Black @ TripleOne Somerset a few times, but had never tried any of their desserts. This time round, we were rather tempted by their Valrhona chocolate desserts. First up was the Valrhona Dark Chocolate Tart. The tart crust itself was a huge disappointment. It was thin, bland and soft, nothing like that of our favourite Laurent chocolate tart. However, the smooth, velvety, rich and dense dark chocolate fudge made up for the unappealing tart crust. Well, as long as Black improved on their tart crust, their Valrhona Dark Chocolate Tart would be a definite winner!

Next up was the Valrhona Chocolate Cupcake with Nutella Frosting. We requested for the cupcake to be heated up, so that the nutella frosting would be more molten, and the sponge below would be softer and warmer. Well, it was slightly warmed, but not to our expectations. In any case, the nutella frosting was rich and strong in hazelnut flavour – typical of the nutella spread. The cupcake itself was spongy and pretty dry. Once we had polished off the top nutella layer, the cupcake was basically unappetizing.
