Queens

Queens

Our first venture into the Sentosa Boardwalk resulted in us having high tea at Queens! The folks behind Queens are the same ones behind The King Louis Grill and Bar at Vivo City. We were the only customers in Queens throughout our afternoon tea session. To some extent, we felt like royalty, as though we reserved the entire place.

Dark Chocolate and Irish Cream

We ordered the Queen’s Set, which comes with a slice of cake, a scoop of ice cream and a cup of coffee, of our choice. Our choices – Hazelnut Dacquoise, Dark Chocolate & Irish Cream and Cappuccino. The Queen’s Set was served on a silver tray, akin to royalty treatment!

The Hazelnut Dacquoise was a winner! Sandwiched in between 2 crunchy biscuit like layers is a thick layer of chocolate fudge! The chocolate fudge was dense and very rich in chocolate. Every mouth was an absolute delight. The hazelnut taste came from the crunchy layers, and they complemented the fudge well. It was almost similar to what we had at Hediard’s, where a thick layer of fudge was sandwiched between 2 sugary layers. In this case, the biscuits were not as sweet, with a strong hazelnut flavour and aroma.

The Dark Chocolate and Irish Cream was pretty normal. We had tried their Triple Chocolate Ice Cream too, but it reminded us of King’s or Wall’s ice cream. It just wasn’t rich enough in flavour (more milky and sweet) and wasn’t all that smooth either. The Dark Chocolate was less sweet, but it had a rather sandy texture. Not really of premium quality, but still acceptable.
