Meiji Cho-pan

The Meiji Cho-pan series consists of 3 flavours – Chocolate, Strawberry and Almonds. P tried the chocolate and strawberry ones a couple of weeks ago and was rather impressed by the latter. We bought the Almond flavoured one at the Takashimaya Marketplace.

4 little chocolate cups in a packet, 2 of which belong to the same flavour. The one on the left contains a layer of white chocolate on a crunchy flaky filling. I was never a fan of white chocolates, always felt that they were rather sweet with a chocolate taste which was barely detectable. The other one did not contain any white chocolate, just flaky layers of biscuits. It wasn’t too bad, rather unique, but P felt that the strawberry and chocolate Cho-pans were nicer.

But 4 little chocolate cups for $3. It is on the steep side, after all the chocolates aren’t really of great quality. Meiji, or rather most Japanese chocolate brands, ride on uniqueness and creativity, rather than quality and taste.
