Chewy Junior

(from left to right) Chocolate Fudge Caramel Milk; Double Chocolate Crunch

Chewy Junior – Freshly Baked Chewy Cream Puffs! There was an offer (2 for $2.50) at the newly open branch at Clementi Mall. Many choices and ultimately, we settled for the Double Chocolate Crunch and the Chocolate Fudge Caramel Milk.

One bite into the Chocolate Fudge Caramel Milk and there was a strong taste of condensed milk. It wasn’t really caramel, it was just condensed milk. Rather disturbing actually, since I never did like condensed milk. The chocolate layer topping was pretty average, not much you can expect for a $1+ puff right? A few more bites towards the core of the puff revealed a creamy center which tasted very much like Milo. In fact, the colour looked like that of Milo. You could refer to it as Milo cream. And they were pretty generous with the amount of cream, such that it started to get a little messy as the cream kept flowing out of the puff. The pastry itself was chewy, living up to its name of Chewy Junior.

The Double Chocolate Crunch was pretty much similar, except that there were crunchy chocolate bits on the top. We did prefer this though, as we aren’t exactly fans of condensed milk. The puffs aren’t made of premium ingredients, but for this price, it will appeal to the general public with the occasional craving for sweet stuff.
